Maintenance guide

I/ Important Safety Notice

Safety and injury prevention are paramount in your sports environment. Regular maintenance and inspection of your fitness equipment go hand in hand with injury prevention. It is important to establish written guidelines for safety inspections and a regular preventive maintenance schedule. The following recommendations can help you create your preventive maintenance schedule for your PALLINI equipment and thus ensure a safe sports environment.

All owners of sports facilities, staff members, and maintenance personnel should read and understand PALLINI's general use and safety guidelines before instructing members on proper use. Safety information should be displayed prominently, and users should be encouraged to refer to these guidelines regularly. Facility areas should be continuously monitored.

II/ General Safety Information

Before and after the commissioning of PALLINI products, an inspection and tests must be carried out to ensure that the equipment is in good working order.

A comprehensive maintenance and inspection program should be developed and implemented immediately upon commissioning of the PALLINI products. This program should be documented to ensure that procedures are followed correctly. No PALLINI equipment should be modified in any way. If damage or malfunction is suspected, contact a PALLINI advisor at +33 2 35 05 35 35 .

III/ User safety information

Discuss your exercise plans and goals with your physician before beginning any exercise program. Always read all warning labels before use and do not attempt to operate any PALLINI product without prior knowledge and understanding. Consult a qualified staff member for information on basic operation, proper use of equipment, and safety procedures before use. Keep your hands and feet away from all moving parts while using the equipment. Ensure the weight selector is fully inserted, as partial insertion may cause the weights to drop unexpectedly, resulting in injury or damage to the machine. Never remove a weight selector if the weight stack is suspended. Never attempt to unjam a stuck weight stack, and call qualified service personnel if any machine is not operating properly. Always maintain full control of the weights during exercise. Avoid slamming or dropping the weight stack, as this may cause damage or injury. Failure to follow these instructions and those of a qualified staff member regarding the proper use of PALLINI equipment may result in serious injury.

IV/ Maintenance and inspection

Regular inspections and maintenance are crucial to ensuring the safety of your equipment users and optimal performance of your PALLINI equipment. Although all PALLINI equipment is manufactured with quality components and designed to deliver maximum performance with minimal maintenance, wear and tear is inevitable. Regularly inspecting and carefully maintaining your equipment will extend its lifespan and help ensure user safety. Always work with qualified personnel who have the experience and expertise to perform maintenance and inspections on your PALLINI equipment, and ensure that damaged or worn parts are replaced with genuine PALLINI parts. Written records of all inspections and maintenance should be kept, as they are often required in the event of an injury. The guidelines below are intended as suggestions for developing your own safety and regular maintenance program.

V/ Suggested Daily Inspection Schedule

Each machine should be inspected and cleaned daily. General operation must be checked, and during this check, the inspector should be attentive to visual, tactile, and audible signs of abnormal vibration or noise.

Cables and Pulleys:

Cables are wear items, meaning the more they are used, the faster they deteriorate. They should be visually inspected along their entire length, paying particular attention to the area passing over pulleys and the ends. Cable end fittings should also be inspected. When inspecting cables, look for a cracked or broken nylon sheath, bent cables, or bulging points; these signs indicate damaged cables, which can cause injury. Any machine with damaged or worn cables must be taken out of service, and the cables must be replaced. Replacement cables can be ordered from PALLINI.

During cable inspections, the pulleys must also be examined. They should be inspected for surface damage, microscopic cracks, and damaged bearings. Excessive noise or vibration during operation indicates a defective pulley. Machines with defective pulleys must be taken out of service and the pulleys replaced immediately.

Frames:

The frames must be inspected for chips, cracks, corrosion, and rust. If any of these problems are observed, it is important to remove the machine from service and contact a qualified fitness equipment technician.

Coating:

Like cables, the coating is a wear item. It should be inspected for tears and cracks, as these indicate that the coating needs replacing. Regarding flooring, machine cleaning should be avoided as it leads to premature wear of the tiles.

VI/ Suggested daily cleaning routine

When inspecting machines, it is important to ensure they are clean. Perspiration can damage metal finishes and coatings, so it is best to ensure they are cleaned daily to guarantee your PALLINI equipment remains in perfect working order. It is preferable to clean the machines at the end of the day, during inspection rounds, to prevent corrosive substances from remaining overnight. Frames should be wiped daily with a damp cloth. If a more thorough cleaning is required, a solution of mild soap and water can be used. After cleaning, the frames should be completely dried with a clean cloth to further prevent corrosion or rust. The coating should be cleaned with a solution of ten percent mild soap and warm water, applied with a damp cloth (or a soft-bristled brush for more stubborn soiling). Wipe away any residue with a damp cloth, then dry completely with a soft cloth.

Notice :

When cleaning, do not use harsh chemicals such as ammonia, solvents, lacquer thinners, acetone, glass cleaner, bleach, alcohol-based cleaners, or similar products, as these can damage the powder coating and dry out the fabric upholstery. Also avoid using abrasive materials, as they can scratch the surfaces.

VII/ Suggested weekly cleaning and maintenance routine

Weekly cleaning should be more thorough than daily cleaning. While performing a more thorough cleaning of your equipment, it is also beneficial to carry out regular maintenance. A weekly cleaning and maintenance routine, if performed correctly, will further extend the lifespan of your PALLINI equipment.

Coating:

Although common in gyms, alcohol-based wipes and sprays can accelerate the drying of the upholstery and increase the risk of premature wear and cracking. Use a standard vinyl upholstery cleaner or a lanolin-based cleaner to help lubricate and maintain its natural flexibility, thus reducing the risk of cracking. To restore shine, lightly spray the upholstery with a furniture wax spray and wipe it off after 30 seconds with a clean white cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals that can dry out the upholstery or colored cloths that can transfer color.

Chrome tubes:

The chrome tubes must be cleaned every six months.  with a cloth, then apply petroleum jelly to the tubes and into the groove of the nylon rings located on the selector.

Cables and Fixings:

Cable tension should be checked and adjusted at the movement arm if necessary. Nuts, bolts, and fasteners should be checked to ensure they are tight. If tightening is required, we recommend using professional-grade wrenches.

Guide Rods and Weight Stacks:

The guide rods should also be cleaned weekly. Wipe away any dust and dirt with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Spray a silicone- or Teflon-based lubricant onto a cloth and wipe the rods. Avoid oil-based lubricants. The weight stacks should be wiped and inspected. Chips in the black coating may occur over time and can be covered with matte black touch-up paint or a black permanent marker. If light rust appears on the surface, spray a rust remover onto a clean cloth and wipe the weight stack. If you observe any cracks in the weights or other damage, contact PALLINI for a replacement weight stack.

Levels:

Linear bearings should be regularly cleaned and lubricated to ensure continued performance and reliability. If rust is found, remove it with fine sandpaper or steel wool before lubricating, then wipe the linear rails with a clean, soft, dry cloth. This removes dust, hair, and debris. After wiping the linear bearings, a small amount of silicone- or Teflon-based spray lubricant should be sprayed onto a clean cloth. Use the cloth to apply a thin coat of lubricant, taking care not to apply too much, as excess lubricant can lead to dirt buildup and impair machine performance. Leaking or dripping lubricant is a sign of overapplication. The pivot points of sealed bearings do not require lubrication but should be wiped with a clean, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt buildup.

The Olympic bars:

To maximize the lifespan of your Olympic barbells, we recommend regular and diligent maintenance. It is important to clean your barbell after each use. Sweat, humidity, and the chalk used during your workout can reduce the bar's durability and cause corrosion. To maintain your barbells and prevent rust spots, we recommend using a soft-bristled brush or a cloth. Avoid metal brushes, which can scratch the metal over time and accelerate corrosion. The grips should be cleaned every three months.

NOTICE :

Always spray cleaning products and lubricants onto a clean cloth away from the machine. Do not spray directly onto the machines or upholstered surfaces. Furthermore, oil-based lubricants can damage powder-coated surfaces and should be avoided.
